Yesterday, the Greater Seattle Korean Association (GSKA) hosted our Education Town Hall, Connecting Bridges – The Path to Understanding, at Crossroads Community Center. The strong turnout and energy from our community made the evening truly special. Families, students, educators, and community leaders came together for an open discussion on equity, access, and student success in our public schools. Multilingual translation services helped ensure broad participation. We were honored to welcome these distinguished panelists:
- Dr. Andy Song — Kent School District Board Director / Legislative Representative
- Jane Aras — Bellevue School District Board Director / Legislative Representative
- Dr. Rebekah Kim — Kent School District Associate Superintendent of Teaching & Learning
- Dr. Susie Askew — Principal, Spanaway Lake High School (Bethel School District)
- Vivian Song — Seattle Public Schools School Board Director
The discussion highlighted leadership, family engagement, and ways to create stronger opportunities for all students. Student voices were also central throughout the evening. We thank our partners, including Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, Youth Eastside Services, Asian Counseling and Referral Service, Make Us Visible WA, and many others who helped make this event possible. This is only the beginning of many more to come.
